Title: Configuring the NewsGator plug-in to Publish via TIP

NewsGator Outlook Edition (or NewsGator Inbox) is a free Microsoft Outlook plug-in that makes it possible to monitor your Traction TeamPage server as well as other news and information sources without leaving outlook. If you configure the Traction Instant Publisher Plug-in for Newsgator, you can also easily post selected content to your Traction server. The plug-in will pick up title and text from any RSS or e-mail message and load it into the Traction Instant Publisher (TIP) for review before publishing.



Note: It is also possible to configure NewsGator's metaweblog API publishing method, but the TIP approach provides a better and more reliable publishing interface.



This help note tells you how to configure NewsGator to select the TIP2 when you click Post to Blog. You will then be able to easily post any RSS message or Outlook message to Traction via the TIP2.

If NewsGator is installed prior to the installation of TIP2, the plug-in will already be installed. If this is the case, move on to Configuring NewsGator to use the TIP2 Plug-in (below).

Installing Traction Instant Publisher



If you haven't already, you will need to start by Installing Instant Publisher.

Installing the TIP's NewsGator Plug-in



If NewsGator is installed after the Traction Instant Publisher v2, follow these steps to install the plug-in:

  1. Right click on the TIP2 Icon and select Settings:

  2. The Settings window will appear. Select the Components Tab, highlight NewsGator plug-in and click Install:



Configuring NewsGator to use the TIP Plug-in



Configuring the TIP plug-in in NewsGator is easy. Just choose the "Traction Instant Publisher v2 plug-in v1.0" from the NewsGator - Options, Posting tab:
